Christian Discipleship Book - Chapter 1

Treasures of God's Kingdom

Why Become a Christian ?

Introduction

God loves us and has a wonderful plan for each one of our lives; Within this divine plan, He has good purpose for each one of us to receive His love, so that we can come to know what true love is, and to further share His awesome love with others.

Beyond our most glorious dream, every person who becomes a Christian inherits a multitude of blessings including God's promise of rest, peace, comfort, spiritual strength, security, eternal life which is immortality, and fullness of Joy.

The God of Christianity, is the Most High God with all authority far above every other so called god or gods in the universe. He is the only true God by nature; for all peoples of every nation and every island throughout the world.

There consists three separate divine persons that reign collectively as the one true Deity. They are ; God the Almighty Father, called YaHWeH or " I AM ", God the Son, who is Jesus Christ, and God the Holy Spirit.

Jesus Christ, who was sent from God the Father, fully demonstrated God's love towards us so that we might understand how to love the way God intended. The awesome love that Jesus Christ gave in word and deed in so many ways, are recorded in the Word of God, the Bible.

A Christian is a person who follows the teachings of Jesus Christ and desires to learn and grow in God's love and goodness. They purpose to love God with all their heart, mind, soul and strength, and to love others as Jesus Christ loved us.

God desires to exceedingly bless us and give us a complete new and better life now, so enriched with His goodness and beyond our limited comprehension. Any person who believes and follows Jesus Christ can be a Christian and receive the spiritual benefits and eternal rewards, regardless of their past. God has also promised to provide for our basic physical and material needs if we seek first God's Kingdom and His righteousness.

Yet, for many of us, we might be somewhat satisfied with our present lifestyle, success or other religious beliefs other than Christianity and see no reason to become a Christian. However, there are several vital life relating reasons why everyone should not only consider, but rather wisely choose to become a Christian.

Chapter 1

1

First of all, every person has a imperfect spiritual nature and exhibit actions of anger, hatred, selfish ambition, arrogance, greed, lies, stealing, profanity, envy, covetousness, immorality, violence, etc. This is called our sinful nature and this is what separates us from having a good relationship with God, who is spiritually pure, and what keeps us from being filled with God's Love.

In many instances, because of personal pride and arrogance, we are not readily willing to admit our wrongful behavior nor are we willing to admit that we need to correct our sinful actions or see any valid reason to change. Then, one day, God sheds the light of His truth upon our darkened hearts and we welcome the warmth of His love, with the hope of Him giving us new life.

Are we just deceiving ourselves by assuming that our lives are fine ? Could we be really be going down hill fast in our spiritual character and not realize just how hurtful our present lifestyle may be to ourselves and others ?

God wants the very best for our lives. The sins that we each do work contrary to God's wonderful plan. Every evil way and action is detrimental to our eternal spiritual welfare.

Sin also brings eventual spiritual death and eternal destruction and separation from God. Yet God did not leave us spiritually destitute without hope; God desires every one of us to be saved from our own self- destruction.

Therefore God sent Jesus Christ, who is God the Son, into the world to set us free from evil and sin, and to demonstrate and establish God's Love within anyone's life who chooses to believe in Jesus Christ. Every Christian is able to be delivered out of their fears, depression and bondage of sin by the power of God's Holy Spirit.

Any person who believes and calls on the name of Jesus will be saved and, if they confess their sins to God in prayer, they will be completely forgiven from every evil way and sin through the precious Grace of Jesus. Salvation is a free gift from God , there is nothing that you can do to earn it. Therefore any person who believes and has faith in Jesus is reconciled spiritually back into good fellowship with God and entitled to a heavenly inheritance from God.

No other religious belief or person has the power to deliver anyone from the bondage of spiritual evil, except Jesus Christ.

Jesus Christ was the only one who was sinless and who properly fulfilled God the Father's requirement for true spiritual justice. By giving His pure life at the cross in the place of each one of us , there was a ransom or payment for the penalty which we all deserved for our wrong deeds, and He thereby made the hope of reconciliation to God available to anyone who willingly accepts His grace.

2

Jesus Christ is the only one who has died, rose again from the dead, and ascended into heaven. He is alive today, and we can have new life through Him. If you want your guilt taken away....if you want to know beyond a shadow of a doubt that when you die you will go to heaven, then you need Jesus Christ. Heaven is an eternal Kingdom more magnificent beyond anyone's expectation !

Jesus Christ has gone to prepare a glorious place specifically for you, if you choose to believe in Him. The angels rejoice more over one sinner that repents, than the ninety-nine righteous ones that need no repentance. To repent, means to change your mind and to turn your life away from the evil direction that you've been going and then to follow Jesus. God loves us with a steadfast love and hopes that none of us would perish.

Anyone who is not cleansed of their unrighteousness by the grace and words of Jesus Christ is destined to eternal spiritual destruction after they die. Anyone who accepts Jesus Christ has eternal life. This might sound like just a boastful statement but in regards to spiritual reality, this is an established truth.

The facts to prove such a statement to be true can be found by any individual who humbles themselves and accepts Jesus first by faith and who sincerely seeks to learn and to know God. Anyone can then have the confidence that they will learn the truth when that person thoroughly examines the consistency of the evidence found and revealed within the Bible by God's Holy Spirit.

As Jesus said. " If you continue in my Word, you are truly my disciple ( student ) and you shall know the truth and the truth will make you free. "

JOHN 8:31,32

It is essential that every person come to the saving knowledge of who Jesus Christ is and what He has done for us, and follow Him so that we can overcome the evil within our lives and to come to an understanding of what God's love is. This can only be accomplished when we ask God's Holy Spirit and His wisdom to come into our life. Thereby, through the power of God's Holy Spirit in our life and by the truth of God's word, we then can understand, receive and grow in the same love that Jesus Christ demonstrated towards us.

We all need to believe and receive Jesus Christ into our hearts by faith through asking God in prayer. This is of the utmost importance so that we might escape eternal destruction, because of our sin. We will then have an abundant and blessed life now and further receive eternal life as promised by God.

On this earth there is one thing we know for sure, that every person who is born into this world will certainly one day die. Yet, we should ask ourselves; if there was even one chance that we could find a way to live forever, wouldn't we would be foolish not to acquire it ? Jesus Christ is our only life saving opportunity.

3

Jesus Christ is the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. We should worship, adore and give all of our praise and thanksgiving only to Him, along with God the Father, and the Holy Spirit.

Satan and demonic spirits have tried to deceive all mankind into making and worshipping images that are made of wood or stone that have no life nor any Godly power. These elementary spirits of the universe try to take the glory from God. Rather we should give glory to the one true God Almighty, the Creator of heaven and earth, and everything in it.

This world is full of distractions keeping us preoccupied and confused so that we might settle for earthly and physical trinkets rather than true heavenly spiritual treasure.

Jesus Christ is the tree of life; He is the fountain of all life, therefore everyone who thirsts, let them come and drink freely of the Living Waters and be refreshed !

The free gift of eternal life and God's precious promises are available to anyone of us this very day, through God's Holy Spirit !

Each individual, who becomes a Christian receives spiritual Wisdom, Godly knowledge and discretion. These spiritual gifts will safeguard their life from spiritual deception and from the lies of false doctrines, and moreover God will send His Holy angels to keep you safe.

Every person who also becomes a Christian enters the family of God and has the opportunity of good fellowship and assistance from other Christians throughout the world.

We can't afford not to examine and experience the transformation power of Jesus Christ in our life. We need to humble ourselves and lay aside any preconceived notions of Christianity so that we might learn and more important receive the eternal blessings that God intended for each one of our lives.

Jesus said, " I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life, no one comes to the Father except through Me." John 14:6

Everyone's eternal welfare depends upon them becoming a Christian and truly knowing God and following Him;

Ask Jesus in prayer to come into your heart, and He will, He'll never leave you or forsake you.

Jesus will spiritually walk with you all the days of your life, to strengthen you, to protect you, to comfort you and to direct you.

Only through Jesus is true Love to be found and fullness of Joy.

Become a " Disciple " of Jesus Christ

And Jesus came up and spoke to them , saying

" All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth ,

" Go therefore and make disciples of all nations,

baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you;

and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."

Matthew 28:18-20

INTRODUCTION

" Disciple " Defined: - Who is a "disciple" of Jesus Christ, or

What does it mean to be a " disciple of Jesus Christ ?

Disciple in Biblical Context

Why should we be discipled ? Why should we be a disciple of Jesus Christ ?

The Call of a disciple of God

By Whom are we called ?

From What are we called ? To What are we called ?

Becoming a Disciple - The Process of Discipleship

" A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another even as

I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another."

John 13:34

" And How shall they preach unless they are sent ? Just as it is written,...

How beautiful are the feet of those who bring glad tidings of good things."

Romans 10:15

6

Who is a "disciple" of Jesus Christ, or

what does it mean to be a"Disciple"

of Jesus Christ ?

The word "disciple" comes from the Greek word - Mathetes which lit., a learner (from Manthano, to learn, from a root ' math '),

(Indicating thought accompanied by endeavor).

Hence the word "disciple" means or denotes one who is a learner or student of the teachings of Jesus Christ.

Moreover the title "disciple" refers to a person who follows the teachings of Jesus Christ and who desires to persevere to learn, and to do, the will of God, in spite of the individual's sin nature or failures because that individual understands that their sins are covered and forgiven by the grace of God and they further believe and trust God to help them to overcome as they learn His ways.

Jesus Christ was not just another spiritual teacher, rather He is ' The Teacher '. far surpassing any other teacher in wisdom, truth and Love.

Only through Jesus Christ can anyone become righteous and grow in God's Love and wisdom.

God always intends every disciple to become a ' participant ' in doing that which he learns, and not just an observer, even though we will do some observing.

As a disciple or student of Jesus Christ, one must be willing to choose to learn and follow the same ways that Jesus Christ demonstrated throughout His life. A disciple purposes to Love others as Jesus Christ loves us.

A person must go beyond just learning about Jesus Christ just ' intellectually '.; Rather a person must be open in their mind and heart and want to sincerely know and follow and obey Jesus Christ. A person needs to desire to receive Him into their heart by the Holy Spirit, and ask Jesus to be the Lord and Savior of their life. Only then will Jesus Christ begin to teach that person the height and depth of His divine spiritual Wisdom.

No one can grow up into spiritual maturity just by intense study about Jesus Christ or even the Bible, without truly accepting Jesus Christ as their personal Lord, and Savior because we also need God's Holy Spirit to give us the insight and understanding of His Word. That is why many religious scholars have so many contradictions and errors in their beliefs because they are leaning on their own understanding and assumptions rather than truly seeking Jesus Christ to show them the truth and the way by His Spirit.

God will never force His principles on anyone. Instead He offers us a totally new life, full of blessings and to be set free from our old life which was full of darkness because of evil.

7

Who is a "disciple" of Jesus Christ, or

what does it mean to be a"Disciple" of Jesus Christ ?

Jesus wants to teach us the truth and lead us away from all confusion and lies and to be delivered from depression and anxiety, so that we can be at rest.

Jesus Christ wants to reveal to anyone the truth if they just humble themselves and sincerely ask God in prayer to show them the way and have the patience for Him to do so, in His own wise way and time.

Every disciple of Jesus Christ has the opportunity to learn and grow in God's Love, Wisdom and Joy, without cost and receive an abundant life now and further Eternal Life with God in His Kingdom.

A disciple of Jesus Christ is not just a hearer of His word but a doer. James 1:22

A disciple perseveres to learn -

Seek and you shall find; Knock and the door will open" Matthew 7:7

A disciple of Jesus Christ, continues to abide in His word...

"If you abide in my word you are truly my disciple and you shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free" John 8:31,32

Why should we be discipled ?

Why should we be a disciple of Jesus Christ ?

1) So we will know the truth

When we are continued to be properly discipled and receive God's Holy Spirit and His word...we gain understanding and godly wisdom regarding...

* Who God really is...

* Why we need Jesus Christ to be our Lord and Savior...

* What is God's plan and will for our lives ...

* How much God truly loves us, and what He has already

done for us, and continues to do for us;

and to further know and become partakers of His divine promises

and so forth...

2) So we will be set free

When we are discipled and learn and believe His truth, we are then set free ongoingly from many spiritual bondages. such as:

We are set free from sin, when we hear God's truth and believe and confess our sins, and repent, and receive the grace and forgiveness of Jesus Christ.

John 15:3

You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you ".

We are also set free from confusion, doubt, lies, pride and every

evil way as we continue to be discipled by God's word of truth

and the Holy Spirit.

3) So we will grow up into the maturity of the nature of

Jesus Christ and bear spiritual fruit in our life...John 15:16

Such as God's love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control...Galatians 5:22,23

4) So we will be equipped and able to do God's word, good works and be a witness and receive divine guidance for our daily situations.

5) So we will be protected from all evil and from the works of satanic powers.

6) So that we may be partakers of God's precious promises and so our joy may be full.

THE CALL OF A DISCIPLE OF GOD

God has made available His free gift of salvation and eternal life to everyone in the world, through Jesus Christ. Yet we each, individually, need to choose to accept His ' call ' to come unto Him in order to receive this gift and all of His precious promises.

WE are called to come to Jesus, and receive the everlasting covenant.

This is an universal calling and a promise by Jesus to all people;

Coming to Jesus and accepting His gift is the only condition to appropriate it.

John 7:37,38 Now in the last day, the great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, "If any man is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, "From his innermost being shall flow rivers of living water."

Revelation 22:17 And the Spirit and the bride say, "Come." And let the one who hears say, "Come." And let the one who is thirsty come; and let the one who wishes take the water of life without cost.

Jeremiah 31:31 - 33 "Behold, the days are coming," declares the Lord, "when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah, not like the covenant which I made with their fathers in the day I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt, My covenant which they broke, although I was a husband to them," declares the Lord. "But this is the covenant which I will make with the house of Israel after those days," declares the Lord, "I will put My law within them, and on their heart I will write it; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people."

Isaiah 59:21 And as for Me, this is My covenant with them", says the Lord; " My Spirit which is upon you and My words which I have put in your mouth, shall not depart from your mouth, nor from the mouth of your offspring, nor from the mouth of your offspring's offspring" says the Lord, " from now and forever.

Isaiah 55:1-3 Ho! Every one who thirsts, come to the waters; and you who have no money come, buy and eat. Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost. Why do you spend money for what is not bread, and your wages for what does no satisfy? Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good, and delight yourself in abundance. Incline your ear and come to Me. Listen, that you may live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, according to the faithful mercies shown to David.

Matthew 11;28-30 Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, ...

and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you, and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart; and you shall find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy, and My burden is light .

11

God personally calls you by name

Lift up your eyes on high and see who has created the stars, the One who leads forth their host by number, He calls them all by name; because of the greatness of His might and the strength of His power not one of them is missing. Isaiah 40:26

" Many are called but few are chosen. "Mat 20:16

God has the foresight to know those who will respond to His calling and humble themselves and admit their wrongs and desire to change and learn God's ways. These are His chosen ones from every race, tribe, and country around the world. These are the ones that He has predestined to become His disciples or students to learn His ways. Jesus has not only just chosen all the great people in the world but has given the opportunity of salvation to every kind of person. He has even chosen the foolish and weak people in the world to confound those who think they are wise.

ROMANS 8:30 For whom He predestined, these He also called, and whom He called, these He also justified, and whom He justified, these He also glorified.

1 CORIN 1:26,27 For consider your calling, brethren, that there were not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble; but God has chosen the foolish things of the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to shame the things which are strong."

If it is your desire to change and to follow Jesus, regardless how spiritually weak you are, then rest assured that you are one of God's chosen ones.

It is only the ones who continually reject Jesus and who don't want to follow His ways, who are not chosen.

There are also specific callings from God to every disciple such as being called by God as a pastor or a missionary or a Sunday school teacher.

WE ARE CALLED IN RIGHTEOUSNESS

I am the Lord, I have called you in righteousness, I will also hold you by the hand and watch over you, now appoint you as a covenant to the people, as a light to the nations to open blind eyes, to bring out prisoners from the dungeon, and those who dwell in darkness from the prison. I am the Lord, that is My name; I will not give My glory to another, nor my praise to graven images. Isaiah 42:6-8

GOD CALLS A DISCIPLE TO SPEAK HIS WORDS OF LIFE

The Lord God has given me the tongue of disciples, that I may know how to sustain the weary one with a word. He awakens me morning by morning, He awakens my ear to listen as a disciple. The Lord God has opened my ear; and I was not disobedient, nor did I turn back. Isaiah 50:4-5

12

GOD GRANTS US TO BECOME WORTHY OF OUR CALLING

2 Thessalonians 1:11 - 12 "To this end also we pray for you always that our God may count you worthy of your calling, and fulfill every desire for goodness and the work of faith with power; in order that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in Him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ."

WE ARE CALLED AS WITNESSES

Isaiah 43: 8 - 13"Bring out the people who are blind, even though they have eyes, and the deaf, even though they have ears. All the nations have gathered together in order that the peoples may be assembled. Who among them can declare this and proclaim to us the former things? Let them present their witnesses that they may be justified. Or let them hear and say, "It is true." "You are "My witnesses," declares the Lord. "And my servant whom I have chosen, in order that you may know and believe Me, and understand that I am He. Before Me there was no God formed, and there will be none after Me. I, even I, and the Lord; and there is no savior besides Me. It is I who have declared and saved and proclaimed, and their was no strange god among you; So you are My witnesses," declares the Lord, "And I am God. Even from eternity I am He; And there is none who can deliver out of My hand; I act and who can reverse it?"

Isaiah 48:16 - 19 "Come near to Me, listen to this: From the first I have not spoken in secret, From the time it took place, I was there. And now the Lord God has sent Me, and His Spirit. Thus says the Lord, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; "I am the Lord your God , who teaches you to profit; who leads you in the way you should go. If only you had paid attention to My commandments! Then your well-being would have been like a river, and your righteousness like the waves of the sea. Your descendants would have been like the sand, and your offspring like its grains; Their name would never be cut off or destroyed from My presence."

WE ARE CALLED TO SEEK GOD

"Seek the Lord while He may be found; Call upon Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; And let him return to the Lord, and He will have compassion on him; And to our God, for He will abundantly pardon. "For My thoughts are not your thoughts. Neither are your ways My ways," declares the Lord. "For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts. For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return there without watering the earth, and making it bear and sprout, and furnishing seed to the sower and bread to the eater; so shall My word be which goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me empty, without accomplishing what I desire, and without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it. For you will go out with joy, and be led forth with peace; The mountains and the hills will break forth into shouts of joy before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands. Instead of the thorn bush the cypress will come up; and instead of the nettle the myrtle will come up; and it will be a memorial to the Lord, for an everlasting sign which will not be cut off." Isaiah 55: 6 - 13

13

GOD HAS CALLED YOU

JOHN 15:16 You have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that you should go and bring forth fruit and that your fruit should remain.

GOD CALLED US NOT BECAUSE OF OUR WORKS

2 TIM 1:9 Who has saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began.

Called to bring the Good News to the afflicted...

and called to be ministers of the Word,

therefore we need to be discipled in His Word.

Isaiah 61 : 1 - 11 "The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the afflicted; He has sent me to bind up the broken-hearted, to proclaim liberty to captives, and freedom to prisoners; To proclaim the favorable year of the Lord, and the day of vengeance of our God; To comfort all who mourn, to grant those who mourn in Zion, giving them a garland instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, the mantle of praise instead of a spirit of fainting. So they will be called oaks of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.. Then they will rebuild the ancient ruins, they will raise up the former devastation's, and they will repair the ruined cities, the desolation's of many generations. And strangers will stand and pasture your flocks, and foreigners will be your farmers and your vinedressers. But you will be called the priests of the Lord; You will be spoken of as ministers of our God. You will eat the wealth of nations, and in their riches you will boast. Instead of your shame you will have a double portion, and instead of humiliation they will shout for joy over their portion. Therefore they will possess a double portion in their land. Everlasting joy will be theirs. for I, the Lord, love justice, I hate robbery in the burnt offering; And I will faithfully give them their recompense., and I will make an everlasting covenant with them. Then their offspring will be known among the nations, and their descendants in the midst of the peoples. All who see them will recognize them because they are the offspring whom the Lord has blessed. I will rejoice greatly in the Lord, my soul will exult in my God; For He has clothed me with garments of salvation, He has wrapped me with a robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decks himself with a garland, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels. For as the earth brings forth its sprouts, and as a garden caused the things sown in it to spring up, so the Lord God will cause righteousness and praise to spring up before all the nations."

14

LIVING RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD

God desires that all Christians have a living relationship with Him.

What this means is that God desires that we love Him, each day, with all of our heart and with all of our mind and with all of our strength and to sincerely love others. Furthermore, we should seek God daily in prayer, as well as read and obey His Word, and demonstrate the same love which Jesus Christ gave to us;

God does not want us to have a dead or superficial relationship with Him by just going to Church on Sunday and then living like sin the rest of the week. However, if we have been living in this manner, God wants us to change and to give us new life.

God is a divine living Person, who is Spirit. God is not just a impersonal force with no character.

God wants us to talk to Him and share our hopes, our needs, and reason together with Him. He cares for us and wants us to cast every burden that we face to Him in prayer so that He can bring a perfect solution.

What a honor that the God who created the universe wants to personally communicate with each one of us.

It is essential that we all seek God with our whole heart, meditate on His word and have a quiet time so we can listen as He speaks to our hearts.

God desires to be your best friend. He'll never leave you nor will He forsake you. He will walk with you each day, and protect you and give you good direction.

God will instruct you daily and give you wisdom and He'll help you whenever your in need, in the way that He knows is best.

The kind of relationship that God desires to have with us is an abundant life that produces good spiritual fruit in your life such as kindness, gentleness, love, patience, self-control, love, and joy. God does not want us to become complacent in giving and sharing with others the goodness that God has given to us.

A living relationship with God requires His attention each day. We need Him to break up the fallow ground of our hearts which has become hardened, and for Him to plant the life giving seed of His Word daily into our hearts, as we read and listen to His word taught by other Christians. We also need to ask in prayer for Him to give us His Spirit which is like refreshing water so that we would become rooted and grounded in His Truth and Love.

15

LIVING RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD

God already knows everything about you and He wants you to know Him.

JOHN 17:3 And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent."

Christianity is not a spectator religion. Every Christian has been chosen for many heavenly tasks here on earth and we must be faithful to do our part. We must come to Jesus with our hearts and not just know about Him intellectually.

JOHN 5:39,40 You search the Scriptures, because you think that in them you have eternal life, and it is these that bear witness of Me, and you are unwilling to come to Me, that you may have life.

God desires that everyone would sincerely come unto Jesus Christ that they would have a true living relationship with Him.

Read the biblical account of Martha and Mary; ( LUKE 10:38-42 )

Martha was busy serving which was good but Mary chose an even better thing to do and that was to ' listen ' and ' sit ' at the feet of Jesus; Mary had a living relationship with Jesus.

Now even though Jesus Christ is seated in Heaven in His glorified body, we still can have a living relationship with Him through the Holy Spirit. We should communicate with Him in prayer just like we would do with a loved one of our family or friends who has gone to another country. One day, soon, Jesus will return for us, and set up His Kingdom.

Worldliness VS Spirituality

Every Christian needs to differentiate between worldliness and true spirituality in their life. We need to let go of anything that is worldly and materialistic in our life beyond our basic needs and take hold of the things that are truly spiritual and beneficial for our life.

WORLDLINESS - Worldliness is the immoral behavior and carnal lifestyle which every person has when they are predominately obsessed with the physical things in this world; such as lusting after earthly riches, material wealth, selfish ambition and sexual immorality. This shallow carnal lifestyle is contrary to God's purpose for our lives and hinders a person from receiving the eternal spiritual benefits that God wants to give us. The lifestyle and behavior of worldliness is to war against God.

Worldliness is also know as the deeds of the flesh...

GAL 5:19-21 Now the deeds of the flesh are evident which are immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissension's, factions, envying, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these of which I forewarn you just as I have forewarned you that those who practice such things shall not inherit the Kingdom of God.

SPIRITUALITY- True spirituality, the way God the Father intended, is obtained only through a living relationship with Jesus Christ by God's Holy Spirit. The establishment of God's Love within a person's life is true divine spirituality. The evidence of true divine spirituality being established in a person's life is the person's Love and devotion to the one and only true God and if that person also demonstrates God's love to one another.

Therefore true spirituality is not just going to a church building and performing various traditions or rituals, but rather doing the will of God in spirit and in truth.

Spirituality is also known by the evidence of the fruits of the spirit

being developed and demonstrated in a person's life...

GAL 5:22,23 But the fruit of the spirit is Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control, against such things there is no law.

Finding a Good Christian Church

Every Christian should have an active part with a group of Christians, so that all would grow up into the love and the maturity of Jesus Christ by which each person gives to each other, through the Holy Spirit.

After becoming a Christian, finding the right Christian Church to go to can be very challenging and to some, even very disappointing. However, it is not impossible, if we wait upon the Lord to direct our path to the right people at the right time.

First of all, everyone should pray and ask God which church they should go to. You should seek out and visit various churches as the Lord would place upon your heart. As you make the effort to seek for the right church, God will help you find the Christian church best suited to fulfill your needs, as well as the group of believers who God desires to bless their lives also as He uses you to serve their needs.

I should reemphasize that you need to make certain efforts in order to locate a good Christian Church.

A true Christian church is any fellowship of believers who sincerely attempt to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ. They teach from the Bible and are determined to demonstrate His Love in word and deed, as they themselves learn from God and grow.

They are a group of people who are not perfect yet, but sincerely purpose in their heart to overcome their sinful nature by the power of God through the grace of Jesus Christ and to do the will of God.

A good Christian church will also try to teach all of the "foundational doctrines" of the Christian faith. Each believer needs to be responsible to actively seek God and read the Bible for themselves, in order to rightly divide the truth by the Holy Spirit and come to an understanding of what exactly are the foundational doctrines of the Christian faith.

Some Foundational doctrines of Christianity are for example:

* We should love and forgive others as Jesus Christ loved us.

* We are saved by the Grace of Jesus Christ, and not by our works

* We are not to worship other gods or follow other religious beliefs

* Jesus Christ is Deity also, along with God the Father and the Holy Spirit.

* Jesus Christ is the only Saviour of mankind

* We can only have a true relationship with God the Father, through Jesus

* There is a real Heaven and a real Hell;

* We need to confess our sins and turn from all sinful ways.

* Our faith should be fulfilled by our good works.

If a particular church does not at least teach these doctrines or deviates away from these basic foundational doctrines then you can be sure they are not a true Christian Church, even though they may falsely claim to be.

Finding a Good Christian Church

The right Christian church is not any particular denomination, there are many denominations who are Christian and have fine churches to attend. While on the other hand, there are many denominations or affiliates that are not Christian, even though they claim to be Christian because they do not follow Jesus Christ in spirit and truth.

A good Christian church can have as little as two or three people, because God's word declares, 'where there are two or three gathered in His name, there He is in the midst of them.' So don't judge a church by it's size.

Don't expect to find the ' perfect ' church because you'll never find one.

It should be understood that Christians are not perfect people, but rather people who hopefully have admitted that they are imperfect and need God's help to transform their lives into the image of Christ.

Any true Christian church is really not the building, it's the people.

Grand cathedrals are no more holy than a barn. In fact that's probably why Jesus Christ chose to be born in a stable instead of a castle, so that people would focus in on Him and not think any material substance or place is more spiritual and loose sight of their personal reason for coming together, which is to worship God and to learn How to love in the same manner that Jesus Christ Loved us.

Where two or more Christians are sincerely gathered together in His Name there Jesus Christ is spiritually in the midst of them.

Every Christian church excels in some areas and lacks in other areas of ministry, so instead of criticizing a church or deciding against going to church based upon where it lacks in ministry, rather ask God if He would use you in some way to help build and encourage the needed areas at that church.

Many people and churches claim to be Christian but are not according to God's Word. If the basic doctrines of that church are in a direct contradiction to the Biblical standards of God's Word then that church has false teachers and should not be recognized a Christian church nor should it be attended by other Christians who are sincerely seeking the truth.

Finding a Good Christian Church

Here are some of the guidelines in determining a false Christian church:

Avoid and Do not attend any church which you would answer YES to any of the following questions :

Is there an over emphasis on giving money, without true godly works being fulfilled?

Does the church accept the beliefs of other religions into the church, or does the church allow teachers from other religions to teach their false doctrine to the people ?

Does the church practice or accept ' New Age ' beliefs or ' Unity ' doctrines ?

Does the church accept homosexuality or abortion ?

Is the fellowship ' legalistic ' in their beliefs, trying to enforce the letter of God's law, and obsolete regulations, rather than applying God's love, mercy, and forgiveness along with righteousness through the perfect manner of God's Holy Spirit ?

Does the pastor or teachers of that church teach that it is acceptable to believe in other gods or that you are God ?

Does the teacher constantly take scripture out of context ?

Does the pastor neglect to teach the Word of God from the Bible ?

Does the teacher use " other " books contrary to the bible to teach from such as the Book of Mormon ?

Does the pastor or teacher bear bad spiritual fruit in their life or is committing some unrepented sin ?

Does the teachers not teach often out of the bible nor use scripture in context ?

Does the pastor and people who attend a particular church deliberately choose not to follow the will of God and obey His commandments ?

Remember a Good Church is not how beautiful the building is but rather how sincere the people are to follow God and Love Him with all their heart, mind and strength.
