"Let them give glory unto the LORD, and declare
His praise in the Islands." Isaiah 42:12

March 25, 1999

Dear Pastor

I’m Pastor Rick Frasure, Chairman for the March for Jesus ‘99. I’m very excited about this year’s event. The theme is "DEMONSTRATE THE PASSION" (DTP) on May 22, 1999, Saturday.

Hawaii is truly a melting pot of ethnic backgrounds. In this year’s March we are asking to demonstrate the passion for Jesus in two ways. First, by marching on May 22nd. Second, by displaying banners in every spoken language used here in Hawaii.

The current plan is to begin the march at Ala Moana Park then come down Kalakaua Avenue and on to Kapiolani Park’s Waikiki Shell.. Just imagine for a moment the impact and witness for Jesus this will have on our visitors from all over the world. What better place than Waikiki as we exalt the Name of Jesus in Korean, Hawaiian, Japanese, Chinese, Samoan, Tongan, Fijian, Filipino, Spanish, French, English, Pigeon, German, Vietnamese, Thai, etc.

At Kapiolani Park, the grounds will be mapped out in huge letters "JESUS." As the marchers enter the park in celebration, they will be directed to the field to stand on the lettering. Surrounding the Name will be the rest of the marchers encircling and embracing that Name. Plans are in the works for coverage from the air of this entire march event.

The reason for this is symbolic of our testimony. He IS the foundation of our faith as a group of one and yet of many diverse ethnic and denominational background worshiping our Lord and Savior.

Pastor, as in any project of this size we need your help in many areas. Prayer, financial, coordinating your volunteers, communications such as bulletin inserts, and/or having me do a short 15 minute presentation for March For Jesus’99. I am presently open anytime to meet your needs. Also would you consider hosting a really in your area.

In His Aloha...

Sincerely,

Pastor Rick Frasure

Chairman, March for Jesus’99

"Let them give glory unto the LORD, and declare
His praise in the Islands." Isaiah 42:12

April 6, 1999

Dear Pastor:

Purpose: Unwall the Church.

In 1994, I walked in March For Jesus for the very first time. I was impressed by the reaction of the people on the sidewalks and balconies of the hotels. As we where marching down the street, I looked up and saw people coming out to see what was going on. I was caught up in the celebration of worship, just enjoying the love of the Lord being expressed by Christians from all over the island. As far as I could see people were praising God. There was a sea of worshippers, and I imaged in my heart, of hearts that what we where doing was really practicing for Heaven streets.

I looked up and saw a woman on a hotel balcony, with a puzzled look on her face. Then all at once, she realized what was happening. She lifted her hands to the Lord in praise along with the rest of us, caught up in the awesome celebration. You know, the March is just that simple. We love Jesus. We simply, let the rest of the world see what we the church do every Sunday morning, in our worship services.

I don’t have any other agenda. Our theme this year is "Love one another…So do it!" Our MFJ team has adopted this theme for this year’s March.

We share your passion and love for Jesus. So, we are asking the body of Christ to take ownership of the March by the following methods:

ONE: We want to ask you to personally announce from the pulpit, that Saturday, May 22, is March for Jesus, and the theme is "Love one anther, So do it!" We will meet at Magic Island and march down Kapiolani Avenue to the Waikiki Shell. The pre-march rally will begin at 8 AM. The actual march will start at 9 AM. After the march there will be a concert, and prayer time for our state. This is not an evangelistic event although people have come to Christ during these marches. No single church is to stand out. It’s Jesus Christ we want to glorify.

TWO: Register your church by filling out the simple registration form. You can help by appointing a trusted leader to be the March for Jesus coordinator from your church body.

THREE: Please include, in your correspondence, this years theme, "Jesus said Love one another, so do it." Also, please put announcements in your church bulletins about the March.

FOURTH: (and most important) Will you pencil in May 22 as March For Jesus in your calendar, and plan to attend this years celebration? All of us are busy, but if we plan today to march together Saturday May 22 at 9:00 AM, we will unwall the church, allowing the world to see that we really love Jesus and we are doing what He said.
